Hello Lovelies:

Relaxing baths are there for you. When you’re feeling stressed, you need to relax, want to catch some serious shut eye or you aren’t feeling well…

Bath products can up the ante and make a good bath great! It’s basically like adding frosting to a cake. Sure, the cake was good already. But the frosting really makes it!

The bummer is that a lot of bath products can be harsh or cause irritation…

But it turns out that it’s super easy to make your own bath products, reducing the chances of irritation while being kind to yourself and your skin! It’s so easy, in fact, that I have 6 awesome options waiting for you. And a free bath recipe e-book to boot!

Are you as excited as I am? Of course you are! Let’s do this:

Why Try These Homemade Bath Recipes?

And, of course, it’s extra fun to add goodies like bubble bath and bath bombs to the mix! You know it’s true! It always ups the ante and makes an awesome situation so much better.

But being mindful of what you’re putting in the tub can play a huge role in supporting your health. Let’s take a peek at why…

According to theEWG, on average, women use approximately 12 products per day, containing around 168 unique ingredients. And, sadly, some of these ingredients might not be the best options for your health.

In fact, 1 out of every 24 women are exposed to potential reproductive and developmental toxins every day through their personal care products. What a bummer, right? (source)

Don’t worry! We can fix this together! Think of it as a reminder that a healthy balance is about much more than diet and lifestyle. What we put on our bodies is important too.

Does this mean that you have to throw out all of your favourite personal care products? Not if you don’t want to sweet friend. It’s totally up to you how you move forward!

A healthy lifestyle is a choose your own adventure. So there’s no pressure because it’s all about what you want and what works for you. And if a certain body wash brings you joy and you just can’t bare to let it go, that’s fine.

Instead, balance things out with more homemade goodness to help to reduce your exposure.

Less is more, but that doesn’t mean you need to pressure yourself to live perfectly. That’s impossible!

So let’s make balance fun instead! Here are some of my favourite DIY relaxing bath recipes.

And to make it even more awesome, I created a free Relaxing Bath Recipe E-Book for you so you have some awesome recipes on hand when you need them!

Ready to have some fun? Me too!

1. Soothing Lavender Bath

  • 1 1/2 Cups of Epsom Salt
  • 5-10 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil

Mix everything together in a little bowl and add to your bath. I like to add it as the water pours for the best aromatherapy ever!

This bath will leave you feeling calm and ready for sleep!

Why? Because Lavender Essential oil is the perfect addition to a night time bath. It’s known to be calming and relaxing.

In fact, this study showed that it can help to reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality. Isn’t that so awesome?!

Oh, and lavender may help to sooth inflammation and reduce the appearance of skin blemishes, which is great news for anyone with eczema, acne or skin inflammation. Relaxation and skin care all in one! Magic! (source)

2. Buzzle Bath

  • 1 Cup of Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 Cup of Baking Soda

Add this in as the water pours so it’s all mixed up once your tub is full!

It’s like high school chemistry in your bath tub! The acidic apple cider vinegar reacts with the basic baking soda. When you first put these bad boys in the bathtub you’ll get some temporary bubbling and a buzzing sound. Hence it’s catchy name!

Baking soda has so much to offer your skin!

Baking soda kicks yeast infections in the pants, easing symptoms like the horrible itchy, burning sensations. It’s even been shown to kill the Candida cells that can lead to the development of yeast infections and has an antifungal affect. Take that infections! (source 1, source 2)

It may help soothe urinary tract infections symptoms too. (source)

For my fellow eczema peeps or psoriasis friends, baking soda baths may help to relive itchiness and irritation. Which is a godsend, am I right? (source 1, source 2)

And, while more research is needed, it’s possible that apple cider vinegar baths may help to fight infections like yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis. As well as athletes foot and dandruff. This is all thanks to it’s ability to kick bacteria and yeast in the booty! (source)

It might also help to improve eczema symptoms by restoring the skin’s naturally acidic protective barrier (people with eczema tend to have a higher skin pH than those who don’t, who knew?) (source)

3. Deep Breath Bath

  • 1 Cup of Epsom Salt
  • 1 Cup of Baking Soda
  • 5 Drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Mix in a bowl and add to the bath as it fills up.

We already know the benefits of baking soda! Epsom salts sadly have no scientific evidence to back up the goodness people naturally associate with it. I know, I’m as shocked as you are! But I enjoy it and I know many others do too, so it’s still a lovely addition to the tub!

Adding in the Eucalyptus provides beautiful you with a relaxing scent and helps you breathe clearer. It’s a super great bath mix when you’re feeling stuffed up.

Inhaling lovely eucalyptus might help to relieve cold symptoms and using it topically could have a decongestant affect. So it’s a total win! (source)

And even if you aren’t sick, breathing easier is never a bad thing. Ready to relax in this goodness?

4. Bath Bombs

Who doesn’t love a good bath bomb? We’ve got that baking soda goodness in there! And you can personalize them with whatever essential oils and herbs you want. It’s so much fun!

And you may very well have all of the ingredients in your kitchen already. All you need is shredded coconut, corn starch, creamed coconut and, if you want, essential oils. Boom! Magic!

Final Thoughts on Creating Your Own Relaxing Bath Recipes

Bath’s are a lovely way to relax and unwind! And you can make them even better by adding in a little extra goodness.

But being mindful of what you put in the bath is a good idea, especially if you have sensitive skin or an infection. And, hey, limiting unnecessary exposure to potential reproductive and developmental toxins is never a bad idea!

Just make sure to hydrate while you soak.

Hot baths, salts and increased sweating can all lead to dehydration. It’s a great idea to keep a glass of water handy.

And, if you have sensitive skin, moisturize when you’re done.

This is a good opportunity to give your skin cells a little extra love and help to prevent dryness or irritation.
